英作文に使えそうな熟語を紹介します。ここで熟語の使い方をマスターしておけば、語彙問題の所でも点数が取れちゃうという一石二鳥の作戦です。

熟語を使って英作練習＋解説
練習問題です。今紹介した文を自分で日本語→英語に訳してみましょう。解説もつけてありますので、参考にしてくださいね。
①それは、あなたの健康に良くない、それどころか有害である
→It is not good for your health, on the contrary it is harmful.
※bad 「悪い」という簡単な単語は避けて、harmful 「有害な」を使うと良いですね。
②その地域では、木が次々と切り倒されている
→Trees are being cut down one after another in the region.
※ are being cut の部分は「進行形の受動態」です。「～されている最中」「繰り返し～されている」「～され続けている」といった「進行形」で「受動態」の意味の時に使えます。進行形（be動詞＋ing形）の形が先に来て（＝are being)、その後に受動態（be動詞＋過去分詞）の形が来ます（＝being cut)
③AI搭載のロボットの開発は、費用は言うまでもなく、膨大な労力を必要とするだろう
→The development of AI-equipped robots will involve an enormous amount of work, not to mention the cost.
※〇〇- equipped は「〇〇の備え付けられた、〇〇搭載の」で使われます。an enourmous amount of~ 「莫大な量の～」という表現も覚えておくと良いでしょう。
④未来を心配しすぎても仕方がない
→There is no point in worrying too much about the future.
※ in（前置詞） の後ろは動名詞になりますので、worrying とするのをお忘れなく。
⑤最近では様々な商品がオンラインの店で売られている
→A wide range of goods are sold at online stores these days.
※many goods 「沢山の商品」なんていうチープな表現からは卒業しよう！受動態の文で書いてあるのもこの文の良い所です。同じ意味の文でも We can buy many goods at online stores these days. とすると、語彙的にも文法的にも残念な感じがします。
⑥⑦概して、外国人労働者は、雇い主に低賃金でこき使われる傾向にある。
→Generally speaking, foreign workers tend to be underpaid and overworked by their employer.
※受動態で「be underpaid＝低い賃金を払われる 」「be overworked ＝過剰に働かされる」を表現しています。
⑧実のところ（本当のところ）あれは真実ではありません
→As a matter of fact, that is not true.
※as a matter of course 「当然のこととして」という表現もあります
例）Freedome of speech is now taken as a matter of course.
（言論の自由は今では当然のことと考えられている）英活用辞典より
⑨私の知る限り、ほとんどの生徒が授業中にスマホの電源を切り忘れる
→As far as I know, most students forget to turn off their smart phones in class.
※as far as は「程度の限度」を表す「～する限り」。「as far as I know 」は「私が知っている程度の限りでは」という意味です。もう少し柔らかく言うと「私はこの程度知ってるんだけど、その私の知っている程度の情報だとね」という意味。
それに対してas long as は「時間の限度」と「条件」を表す「～する限り」。
例）I won't give up as long as my life lasts.
（私の命が続く限り、私は諦めない。＝私が生きている「時間」が続く限り）
これは「時間の程度」ですね。
例）As long as you can come by six, I'll be here.
（6時までに来られるのなら、ここで待っていましょう）ランダムハウス英和大辞典より
これは「条件」ですね。
⑩何よりもデジタル機器を長時間じっと見続けることを避けるべきである
→Above all, people should avoid spending a long time staring at a digital device.
※avoid は、後ろに動名詞を取りますので spending とするのをお忘れなく。 「spend a long time (in) ~ing →～するのに長時間を費やす｣も使える表現ですね。
